This is the research the pitch is built on, written for you and about Toyota Canada. It would never be shared with them. The pitch is the only part Toyota would see.
Toyota Canada was Wheelchair Basketball Canada's Official Mobility Sponsor and Official Vehicle from June 2017, and has been quietly stepping back since. It now has no para or adaptive sport platform in Canada, a community policy built on "inclusion through physical accessibility", and a fresh five-year deal with the Canada Games, where wheelchair basketball is on the Quebec 2027 program. This report shows how WBC wins it back.
June 2017: Official Mobility Sponsor and Official Vehicle, all four national team programs, Hoopfest presenting, National Academy presenting. Still described that way by WBC in December 2024. By December 2025, TD presented Hoopfest and Toyota was an "event sponsor". It is off the partners page and absent from the 2024-25 annual report.
HIGH VERIFY formal expiryToyota left the IOC TOP program after Paris 2024. Its COC and CPC term ran 2017 to 2024 with no renewal found. The global para money now goes through a Toyota Mobility Foundation grant to the IPC, which Toyota Canada can't activate with Canadian consumers.
HIGH VERIFY no unannounced deal29 September 2026: National Mobility Partner of the Canada Games for five years (Quebec 2027, Moncton-Saint John 2029, 2031), 50+ vehicles, zero-emission focus. Wheelchair basketball, with athletes with and without disabilities, is on the Quebec 2027 program.
HIGHNSL exclusive automotive (2025), Canada Games (2025, 2027-31), Food Banks Canada with dealers (2026). Every 2026 release leads with "our dealers". A Toyota dealer, Tony Graham Toyota, already played Hoopfest Ottawa 2024 and won bronze.
HIGHToyota Canada's corporate cause is accessibility, and since 2024 it has had nowhere in sport to show it. Its newest money buys Canada Games vehicles, which put it at a venue where wheelchair basketball is played. WBC is the one property that joins the cause, the Games deal and the dealer network, and it has nine years of shared history to stand on. The ask is a marketing partnership owned by Sales & Marketing, not a donation: Toyota's own community rules exclude recreational sport.
Three seasons, using only WBC-owned inventory. No Paralympic marks; no Canada Games marks (Toyota licenses those from the Council already).
Vehicles for Senior Women, Senior Men and junior programs, electrified where possible. Name with the teams at WBC events and on WBC channels. Wording: "Official Vehicle", kept clear of Sunrise Medical's wheelchair supply.
National team athletes and coaches run a try-it session with Quebec region dealers during the Games. Toyota's Council rights cover the Games side; WBC brings the sport and the content.
A dealer 3x3 challenge in the Hoopfest format at the 2027 Nationals (Montreal) and CWBL Finals (Charlottetown). New and name-in-title, so it doesn't touch TD's Hoopfest. Regional dealer associations co-fund.
A short content series for Toyota's channels in the "More We Get Together" register, and a September dealer report: dealers involved, events, local coverage, vehicles in service.
Toyota Canada Inc. is the exclusive Canadian distributor of Toyota and Lexus. Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada (Cambridge and Woodstock, ON) is a separate entity and builds the RAV4. Agency of record: Saatchi & Saatchi Canada.
Cyril Dimitris, President & CEO since 1 Jan 2025; Steve Pilkey, VP Sales & Marketing; Leslie Miller, VP Lexus, Corporate Services & COO; Robert Tsang, VP Customer Services.
Corporate community investment is focused on "inclusion through physical accessibility", then food security, sustainability and relief. Applicants must be registered, national, bilingual charities; recreational sports teams are ineligible. HIGH, checked 4 Nov 2026
The global platform for the IOC and IPC deal. In Canada: ten athlete profiles, the 2018 Super Bowl spot "Good Odds" with Para-alpine skier Lauren Woolstencroft, and "Keep Marissa Running" for Paris 2024. No Canadian use found since. HIGH VERIFY rights
The RAV4 national campaign with Dallas Green, a Quebec version with Chloé Leclerc, and multilingual cuts. Connection, recreation, shared moments. This is the register to write in. HIGH
The dealer-linked cause program behind Food Banks Canada. Proof that Toyota likes programs dealers can join locally. HIGH
Funds the IPC grant (2025 to 2028) and the Mobility Unlimited Hub with MaRS in Toronto, which backs accessibility and active-mobility start-ups. The global parent still pays for para sport; the Canadian brand has no consumer face for it. HIGH
Warm, plain, community first, no heroics. These phrases carry the register.
