Case study · Prepared for Wheelchair Basketball Canada · November 2026

I built one for you. Here's Toyota Canada.

This is my sponsor pitch process, run start to finish on a real prospect for Wheelchair Basketball Canada. It isn't a mock-up of what I might do. The research is real, the pitch site is built and working, and every claim in both traces back to a dated public source.

The process I ran
1 · Brief

Set the rules

WBC can sell only what it owns: its national teams, its own events (Nationals, CWBL Finals, Hoopfest), its programs and its digital channels. No Paralympic marks, and no Canada Games marks, which Toyota already licenses from the Council.

Start with your current partners

Before picking a brand, I checked your current and Ottawa 2026 partners, so the pitch wouldn't clash with one. There's no car company among them, so Toyota is clear. Two partners sit close enough to plan around: Sunrise Medical (sport wheelchairs) and Air Canada and VIA Rail (travel). TD now presents Hoopfest, so the pitch offers Toyota something new of its own.

3 · Decode

Read everything

Three streams in parallel: Toyota's brand and voice, its sponsorship ledger, and its decision-makers. Each claim dated and rated for confidence.

Write it to them

A pitch site in Toyota's own register, addressed to one person. Tap reactions come back to WBC before the first meeting.

What the research pulled out
Built for the phone first

Every pitch I build is designed to be read on the sponsor's phone before anywhere else, because that's where a first look actually happens: between meetings, on the way in, forwarded from a colleague. Short sections, one idea per screen, and tap reactions instead of forms. Open the pitch site on your phone to see it the way Toyota would.
